Chassis No. - P1R27815 Registration - EXZ 558 M.O.T - EXEMPT Odometer – 13,240 You may have to read this twice – this splendid-looking left hand drive Series 2 Jaguar E-Type has covered just 13,240 miles from new. Yes really! Manufactured on February 16, 1970 it was despatched to British Leyland New York the following month. The first keeper was Jim Cox of Colorado Springs, who retained the car for 17 years, yet for some reason drove it just 881 miles. It was then sold via an agent to father and son Karl and David Morgan of Idaho Falls, who added 12,109 miles during their 29-year tenure. Following repatriation, the E-Type featured in the Brightwells auction of July 2017, in which it achieved the top price of the sale at £59,950. In deference to its years of inactivity, it has recently been treated to a £3,000 recommissioning programme, that has included an oil change and new: oil and air filters; front brake discs, master and slave cylinders; clutch slave cylinder and reservoir; windscreen washer pump mechanism and bottle; and stainless steel exhaust system. Originally finished in Signal Red, ‘EXZ 558’ is these days resplendent in Opalescent Dark Blue, the quality of which the vendor regards as ‘superb save for one small blemish on the left-hand side of the bonnet’. He further notes that the panel fit is ‘uniformly good throughout, the brightwork in really tip-top condition, and the underside solid with no structural corrosion’. He regards the chrome wire wheels and their original earless spinners as being in ‘outstanding order’, while the Jaguar rides on what he describes as ‘quality tyres’. Still equipped with its export specification Stromberg carburettors, the engine is said to ‘start well, run smoothly and pull strongly while showing correct oil pressure’. Aside of one small break in the leather of the passenger seat, the black interior trim is reportedly in ‘top class condition’. This beautifully-presented Jaguar is now offered complete with spinner removal tool, mallet and jack, plus a comprehensive history file containing: all the car’s import documentation; assorted receipts and invoices for parts and work carried out over five decades on both side of the Atlantic; and Heritage Certificate. A genuinely unique opportunity to acquire an astonishingly low mileage E-Type in the 60th anniversary of the model.
