Chassis No. - BA96JC24290 Registration - PMB 753H M.O.T. - EXEMPT Here we have a true wolf in sheep’s clothing. It began life as a two-door Cortina GT that ended up being dry stored for many years. Rather than recommissioning it as standard, it was decided to go the far more exciting route of turning it into the evocation of a Cortina Savage, as produced in period by Race Proved of Uxbridge. The shell was stripped to bare metal, media blasted and then uprated with additional stiffening and anti-tramp bracketry before being resprayed red. The mechanical specification is highly impressive, and in fact far superior to that of most original Savages. The brand new fully ported and balanced V6 Essex engine was built by Lowman Racing Engines of Hockley, Essex at a cost of £7,500. It was bored out to give an enlarged capacity of 3098cc and includes: Accralite forged pistons, resized conrods, micro-polished crankshaft, alloy cam gear, Cometic head gaskets, reconditioned DFA carburettor and alloy rocker covers. A pair of very sexy fabricated manifolds lead into a full stainless steel competition exhaust system by Mike Edwards. The engine drives through an AP competition clutch and five-speed reconditioned Injection Capri gearbox to a semi-floating Baby Atlas axle with two-piece halfshafts and 4.6:1 Gripper LSD supplied by Squires. Steering is by (quick) rack and pinion, and braking by AP vented discs and 4-pot calipers up front and Cosworth discs and calipers at the rear. The front suspension features Bilstein GP4 Escort struts, World Cup cross member and adjustable track control arms. The Polybushed rear end includes multi-leaf springs and Bilstein dampers. The car’s black interior benefits from an adjustable pedal box, all new wiring, new trim and carpet. A totally unique and exciting opportunity for fast Ford fans everywhere. In summary: • A totally stunning Savage evocation • Mouth-watering specification • Finished to show standard inside and out
