Registration - R579 YWC Chassis No. - WDB1209632F152530 M.O.T. - August 2022 Odometer - 87,000 This fine looking example of the fourth generation SL, the R129, is finished in black and trimmed in a suitably contrasting shade of light tan hide. It was acquired by the current keeper, its fifth, in February 2018, since when it has resided in a garage and only used on fine days. He informs us that the Benz is: ‘in excellent condition mechanically and everything works as it should; that the bodywork is very good with no signs of corrosion; the stately black paintwork is in excellent condition with hardly any imperfections, and the interior is good and showing very little sign of wear’. He adds that the black hood is also ‘in very good condition and operates smoothly’. The car is powered by Mercedes’ M104 DOHC straight-six engine of 3.2-litres driving through a five-speed automatic gearbox and has accrued a relatively modest 87,000 miles to date. ‘R579 YWC’ is now offered for sale complete with ‘amazing’ Bose sound system, factory supplied hard top and stand, new electric aerial and rear parking sensors, and a current MOT valid into August of next year. A clearly much loved motorcar with many years of life remaining. Based on a shortened floorpan of the W124 saloon, the R129 SL first saw the light of day at the 1989 Geneva Salon, and was runner-up to the Citroen XM in the following year’s European Car of the Year Award. It replaced the long running R107 model and has the distinction of being the first passenger vehicle to have its seat belts integrated into the seats themselves. The model was replaced by the R230 in 2001 after 213,089 examples had been built. In summary • In apparently very good order throughout • Comes complete with both hard and soft tops • Accompanied by a full 12 months’ MOT
