Registration - F756 XJT Chassis No. - WVWZZZ15ZKK021117 M.O.T. - July - 2022 Odometer - 75,859 Hopefully, the current chaotic weather will give way to an Indian summer, at which point this very tidy-looking Volkswagen Clipper would come into its own. Finished in Alpine White that’s complemented by a black hood and grey tweed cloth interior trim, it was first registered in May 1989, since when its keepers have collectively amassed a very reasonable 75,859 miles. The vendor presently classes the convertible bodywork, paintwork, upholstery, 1781cc engine and five-speed manual gearbox as all being in ‘good’ order. It is now available for sale complete with: JVC stereo system with CD/MP3 playback; service book containing 13 stamps from 1990 to 2016; collection of receipts for previous work that collectively warrant the indicated mileage; VAG service folder that hosts the original instruction manual and service schedule; 11 past MOT certificates, plus a current one that remains valid until July 22 next year. Still a fashion statement to this day, the Clipper remains a thoroughly practical four-seat convertible. The Golf Cabriolet was designed and manufactured by the German coachbuilder Wilhelm Karmann and remained in production from 1980 to 1994. Introduced in 1988, the single carburettor 1.8-litre Clipper replaced the previous GL version and benefited from that year’s modernising facelift of the model that included moulded bumpers, integrated front spoiler, sills and wheelarch extensions. With 90bhp on tap, the Clipper was capable of topping the magic 100mph, and though marginally slower on the uptake than the GTi version, most of whose mechanicals it shared, it was arguably far better value for money, weighing at £11,989 as opposed to £14,450 for the GTi. In summary: • A thoroughly well-presented example of a now fairly rare model • Comes with plenty of history in support of its relatively modest mileage • Equipped with a JVC KD R331 stereo system
