Registration - YUJ 873K Chassis No. - GAN51011676 M.O.T. - Exempt Odometer - 74,137 This MKIII Midget is finished in green and trimmed in black. It was purchased by the vendor from an auction in Perth in 2014. At that stage it was a non-runner and, in order to make it usable by her teenage son in MG Car Club events, several thousand pounds were invested on the body and mechanical parts. For example, the floorpans were replaced, new brake discs/drums, calipers, pipes, wheel cylinders and flexi hoses installed, the engine serviced, and fresh tyres fitted all round. Many years of enjoyment ensued, but the MG is now surplus to requirements and therefore requires a suitably loving new home. The vendor currently grades the four-speed manual gearbox as ‘excellent’ and the bodywork, paintwork, upholstery and 1275cc engine as all being in ‘good’ order. She adds ‘it is a lovely little car that runs like a dream and will give the next owner many happy miles of motoring, but would benefit from some minor attention to the paintwork. It is now being sold complete with knock-on painted wire wheels and a boot-mounted luggage rack. The 1961 Midget was essentially a MKII Healey Sprite in a new suit of clothes. The newcomer was powered by a 948cc ‘A’ Series engine, the doors were without external handles or locks and the side windows comprised sliding Perspex screens. Braking was by drums all-round. By the time of the MKIII version, the motor’s capacity had been increased via 1098cc to 1275cc, the semi-elliptic rear springs had replaced the original quarter elliptic ones, front braking was now by discs, and wind-up windows had been fitted together with a superior hood. In summary: • Has benefited from replacement floors, braking system and tyres • Currently displaying a very credible 74,137 total miles from new • Comes with painted wire wheels and luggage rack
