Registration - MVS 379 Chassis No. - S836583BW M.O.T. - Exempt The early history of this handsome righthand drive fixed head coupe is unknown other than that it was imported (probably from California) and first UK registered in October 1992. It is finished in the pleasing combination of Sherwood Green bodywork, green-piped tan leather upholstery and green carpets. Since being acquired by the vendor in 2011, it has been restored by a local garage owner. In addition to the engine also being rebuilt, the Jaguar has been uprated courtesy of an aluminium radiator and five-speed GETRAG gearbox. The vendor nowadays classes the 3.8-litre XK engine and replacement transmission as ‘excellent’, and the two-seater bodywork, paintwork and interior trim as ‘good’. In his care the car has apparently always been dry stored and it is now available for sale complete with period Lucas auxiliary lamps, door mirrors in addition to torpedo style wing mirrors. The Jaguar rides on chrome wire wheels. By the time the XK150 was launched in May 1957, Jaguar had won Le Mans four times and was about to do so once again. Though the newcomer was a logical progression of the XK140, subtle changes to the bodywork gave this final iteration of the XK a distinctly more modern air. The split windscreen was replaced with a single sweep of toughened glass and the scuttle height was raised, along with the waistline. The XK150 was the first production Jaguar to be equipped with disc brakes, and at launch was offered in fixed head coupe and drophead coupe guise, with the roadster following in 1958. By the time the model was superseded by the E-Type, some 4,445 fixed head coupes had been produced. In summary: • A tidy-looking example of a perennially popular British classic • Restored since being imported to the UK • Upgraded with aluminium radiator and five-speed gerabox
