We understand this example, a MKI RS2000, has recently been treated to a comprehensive restoration of its bodywork and repaint in Olympic Blue by a professional classic car bodyshop. As part of the process, new door and window rubbers were installed and fresh bumpers fitted front and rear, while the underside was additionally protected with Waxoyl. The black interior has also been treated to a degree of refurbishment, that included the replacement of the door cards and reupholstering of the cloth-covered seats with period correct material. The engine is the car’s original 2-litre Pinto unit. The subject of a previous rebuild, it nowadays sports twin carburettors and an aluminium sump, and drives through the correct-style four-speed manual gearbox. The car rides on polished alloy RS wheel rims shod with new tyres all round. The vendor now classes the bodywork and interior trim as ‘excellent’ and the engine, transmission and paintwork as ‘good’. Stored in a Carcoon, this good-looking Escort is now being offered complete with a comprehensive collection of receipts and photographs documenting the restoration.
