The accompanying Heritage Certificate confirms that ‘PWB 387’ came off line on April 8, 1960 and was despatched to the original distributor, PJ Evans of Birmingham, 14 days later. At the time, the car was finished in Mist Grey, but that colour was replaced by the current livery of Old English White in the early ‘70s, which is matched to red leather interior trim, red carpet and a black hood and hood cover. The only departures from original specification have been the replacement of the seats with a pair of splendid bucket ones and the period four-speed gearbox with a modern five-speed equivalent. The vendor presently regards the transmission and 3.4-litre XK engine to be in ‘excellent’ order, and the drophead bodywork, paintwork and upholstery to be ‘good’, and adds that ‘the car is very solid and mechanically sound’.
